Nicholas David Scott passed away suddenly on March 19, 2024, at the age of 53. Nick is the beloved husband of Amy (McKeown) and cherished father to Griffin and Parker, loving son of Carol Scott and the late David Scott, amazing brother to Angela and her husband Marc Bucher. Fun loving brother-in-law to Mark & Debbie McKeown, Karyn McKeown, Kim McKeown, Melissa & Brian Schulz, and son-in-law of Carole McKeown and the late Tom McKeown. Nick enjoyed spoiling his nieces and nephews who adored him: Devin (Talia) & Emily McKeown, Brennen Mueller, and Calum & Ava Schulz. Holiday meals with Aunt Sylvia (and the late Newton) and his cousins Steve and Julia Barge-Siever were one of Nick's favorites. Nick was known by all to be generous, loyal, selfless, laid back and will be missed immensely.
Nick grew up in Taylor, Michigan and one of his first lifelong friends was Todd Lutheran. Nick graduated from Kennedy High School in 1988 where Ron Perry and Jim Chascsa added to Nick's long list of 'forever friends'. He went on to Eastern Michigan University where he earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Economics, as well as a Supply Chain masters certification from MSU. He played for the University of Michigan rugby club team and while at EMU he developed a true brotherhood with Dave Caswell, Zach Matice, Jerry Meltzer, Ron Wyka, Anthony Cicchelli (AC), Scott Nichols and more. This is where many affectionately gave him the nickname 'Big Daddy'.
Nick started dating the love of his life Amy in 2001 and after converting to a Spartan fan, they were married May 21, 2004 and established their home in White Lake. Then Griffin and Parker arrived in 2006 and 2008 to complete their loving and adventurous family. The Scott family shared a love of sports and games. Nick enjoyed adding to his collection of golf clubs & fashionable shoes. He appreciated time on the course, range or simulator with family and friends. Nick, Amy, Griffin and Parker also enjoyed traveling, boating, hiking and skiing as a family. Spending time on Oxbow Lake, White Lake, Sylvan Lake or recently Lake Keowee in South Carolina made for a perfect outing. Nick cherished his “boys trips” with Griffin and Parker by taking them to Detroit Lions games around the country and their time together watching and talking about sports and Marvel movies.
Nick worked in the auto industry for over 25 years in supply chain and customs roles at ITT, Delphi, Yazaki and most recently Cooper Standard. Nick was passionate about the people in his life - he built and maintained meaningful friendships and added friends at every phase of his life. The most recent stage was befriending many parents of Griffin and Parker's classmates at their schools, St. Patrick and Detroit Catholic Central. Nick super-sized and improved everything for which he was involved. He and Bob Boyd remastered an annual golf trip into what is now known as the “Ryder Cup” for 16 kinsmen. He looked forward to his weekly Neighbors Golf League (NGL) and season-end golf trip with Terry Pashak and former work colleagues. Over 20 years ago he founded the “Battle of the Ages” fantasy football league, where Griffin and Parker were just inducted as team co-owners. Nick appreciated that longtime friend Brian Pollack traveled every year to Michigan to participate in the draft. To date, Nick’s team “Funkadelics” is the league contender, with the most wins. Early on, Nick befriended Amy’s high school friends and spouses, many of whom were integrated into his golf and FFL adventures, and this group quickly discovered he was an incredible dancer! Another one of Nick's gifts was that he was an accomplished cook and enjoyed sharing his dishes with everyone, especially his Northridge Court neighbors - the Hargreaves, Matice and Sneckenberger families.
Nick had many talents and passions, but nothing brought him more joy than being a father to Griffin and Parker. He’s held and won a lot of titles but his favorite was “Dad”, and he could not have been more proud of his sons. Nick was truly a “Super Dad” with the shirt and evidence to prove it 😊.
Lastly, Nick was known as a “Dog Whisperer”, as every dog who met him became a follower. In lieu of flowers, and in memory of Nick consider making a donation to Canine Companions: https://secure.qgiv.com/event/dogfestnorthcentral/account/1720324-nickscott
