I'll always fondly remember knowing Mary.  When I was a new GM employee in 1966 she took me under her protective wing, hosted my Bridal Shower at Cranberry Lake in 1968 (complete with pre-shower dandelion wine).  She was such a vibrant, giving, fun person to have as a friend and co-worker.  May all the  wonderful memories ease the pain of your loss.

On Saturday July 24, 2010 I did the best I could to honor my beloved grandmother Mary by praying in a rather loud and squawky voice these words of Sacred Scripture selected by her children at the Mass through which we commended her to the Lord our God.  The entire day was a beautiful testament to Mary.  Plenty of hospitality, hugs, smiles, and giggles even amid our steady flow of tears.  I have been experiencing an overwhelming sense of peace and hope amid my many tears since I heard the news of her passing into the Communion of Saints.  So I thought I would share these words as an offering to any who like me may have struggled to find a fitting way to put into perspective all the wonderful things Mary is to us. Mary, although we are going to miss you very much, I know my mother was so glad to welcome another Rushin into heaven. I'm sure the two of you have already organized another dance party. With your beautiful smile and wonderful laugh, heaven just got a whole lot more fun and interesting! Wherever Mary was (and is) there was a party. For instance, I recall the time that we (my mother and her five children) arrived at Cranberry Lake for one of Mary's famous parties. The problem: we were a week early!  No problem--instant party--just add Mary. 

We are going to miss you dearly, Mary. But we know we have to share you with the rest of your loved ones who have gone on before you.  Goodbye and Godspeed.  Love, Kathy Gibson.

Recalling lots of good memories with a very sad heart.  Will always remember Cranberry Lake each 4th of July.  Thoughts, love, and prayers going out to the family.  Some comfort at the thought of the 'rushin reunion'.  God Bless

When I think of Mary Young I immedialty think of her big smile that would light up a room. She loved to entertain and gather together large groups of friends to celebrate occasions. I will always especailly remember the many 4th of July Party's on Cranberry Lake from my childhood.  Besides seeing old friends and having great food, you could alwys count on Mary to have have arranged some kind of unique entertaiment. A "4 Freshman" style rock band, a scottish bagpiper, Irish tavern songs and a swiss yodeler all come to mind. Mary had a gift of making everyone feel welcome. Her photo could be in the dictionary next to the word hospitality. Mary and our Mom were friends since high school and I will always remember her for her devotion to her family and friends.We will all miss you Mary.
