Born in Howell, Michigan on September 13, 1934 to Thomas Devereaux and Mary (Murphy) Devereaux, “Margo” was a lovely, kind and loving person who was always willing to help others.
Margo graduated from Howell High School and from St. Lawrence School of Nursing in Lansing, Michigan. As a Registered Nurse, she worked in many different states before settling back in Michigan and having a long career at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital as the Assistant Director of Nursing. Education was important to Margo and she took pride in the fact that all of her children graduated from college.
She met her husband John on a blind date and they married in Howell on August 24, 1957. They shared fifty-four wonderful years together until John’s passing on August 27, 2011.
Margo held a strong faith during her entire life as a member of the Catholic church. Whether it was time, encouragement or money, Margo was always a very giving person. She loved to dress up and had a flair for wearing fancy hats and socks. She loved to dance and music brought her great joy. She also enjoyed watching movies, shopping, supporting kids and grandkids at sporting and school events, and raising her family as a SUPERSTAR MOM.
Margo was always into health and wellness. This led her to tap into her entrepreneurial spirit and partner with the Shaklee Corporation to start her own business. It gave her great joy to help family and friends build a healthier life through her business which continues to thrive today.
One of the highlights of Margo’s past was that she was Miss Michigan in 1955 and went on to compete in the Miss America Pageant.
Margo is survived by her children Shelley (David) Parmenter, Thomas Coe, Mary (Brendan) Rock and her daughter-in-law, Julie Coe.
Margo is also survived her six grandchildren Dustin Parmenter, Taylor (Zack) Gatten, Hayden (Kourtney) Coe, Meagan Parmenter, Skylar (David) Kepshire, and Parker Coe, her great-grandchildren, Derek, Teddy, Carter, Darla, and Kendall, her sister, Rosemary Hartsig, brother, Stephen Devereaux and many other family members who she loved dearly.
Margo was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mary, her husband, John E. Coe, her son, John T. Coe, and her brother, Thomas Devereaux.
A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386. Margaret’s family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Union Lake Chapel of the Elton Black & Son Funeral Home, 1233 Union Lake Road, White Lake, Michigan 48386, and again at the Church on Tuesday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass at 11:00 am. A burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
