Lynda G. Walter (Krebsbach) returned to her heavenly home on October 16, 2023. She was born on February 10, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to Sigmund and Marian Krebsbach. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert, her sister, Judy Ann (Paul) Polesnak, her nieces and nephew, and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her adopted son, John, and adopted daughter, Jody.
Lynda attended St. Mary of Redford school for 12 years, graduating in the Class of '66 where she was part of the "smart kids' clique". She graduated from Marygrove College in 1970 with a teaching degree, and then taught grades 7-12 English and Social Studies at Muir Jr. High and Milford High in the Huron Valley School System.
When her children were adopted, Lynda chose to become "a full-time, stay-at-home mom". When the children were both in school, she went to work at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit. Throughout her five years there, she served in several positions and held various titles including Registrar and Financial Aid Director. She also obtained another degree from Marygrove, a Masters in Pastoral Ministry.
After moving to Florida in 1999, Lynda took a teaching position in a prison facility for juvenile boys ages 14-18 convicted of felonies. She taught basic reading, math and language skills and basic living skills as well as the G.E.D. preparation class. As the G.E.D. proctor as well as instructor, she saw 650 of her students successfully pass and receive the G.E.D. -- a record number for the Florida Dept. of Corrections. In 2012 the prison closed and she decided to retire.
During retirement Lynda was able to spend time doing things she enjoyed such as reading, quilting, playing shuffleboard and cards with friends, and mostly spending quality time with Bob, her pets, and God. She beat lung cancer the first three times; but due to Covid restrictions in 2020, treatment was delayed too long and the cancer was far to advanced to be completely eliminated. This led to her fifth and final battle, which she was not able to win.
She knew where she was going and to Whom she was going, and she was at peace.
