Lois was born July 16, 1930, in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Rudolph and Mabel (Laabs) Madsen.
She grew up in Appleton, and graduated high school with the Class of 1948. Then went on to attend college at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in social sciences in 1952. It was during her time at the University of Wisconsin that she met the love of her life, Carlton H. Miller from Green Bay. Carl and Lois were married on December 26, 1951, sharing 51 wonderful years together until Carlton’s death on September 28, 2003. During their years together, there were more moves than they planned but they settled in Muskegon, MI for over 30 years.
In 2014, when the house got to be too much for her, she moved to Independence Village in White Lake. She lived there on her own terms for almost 8 years and had many friends; she enjoyed participated in many of the activities held there. In her free time, she enjoyed a good book. Facebook and games on her iPad also gave her a great deal of pleasure.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Mabel, and her loving husband, Carlton H. Miller.
She is survived by her three children: Carla (Scott) Johnson, Steve (Sue Raymond) Miller, and Douglas (Kathy) Miller; her five grandchildren and their spouses: Matthew, Elizabeth (Javier), Amanda (Dan), Tom (Christin), and Rachel; and her three great-grandchildren: Dylan, Tommy, and Anna.
She was a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.
In accordance with Lois’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no public funeral services being scheduled.
