Kent Grai Thompson

Kent was born to Dennis and Cherie Thompson on February 13, 1964 in Glendale, California. Growing up, Kent enjoyed multiple sports – baseball, football, bowling, motocross, street hockey, and more. He fell in love with the oceans and beaches in Southern California, as well as the mountains, enjoying the family’s cabin in Lake Arrowhead. Later he fell in love with the game of golf and became very skilled at it.

Kent met his wife, Elizabeth (Liz), on a blind date in 1994 in Westminster, Colorado. They married 14 months later on September 2, 1995. Married life began in Broomfield, Colorado. They later moved to Palmdale, California where they had two children, Anna and Justin. In 2003, they moved their family to Michigan where they’ve resided since. Family was always important to Kent. He was a dedicated husband and proud father.

Kent enjoyed a terrific career, spending 20 years at Lockheed Martin Enterprise Information Systems and another 15+ years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. He was self-taught in computer science and excelled at anything having to do with computers. A young boy and a fascination with his Amiga computer grew into an incredibly intelligent adult and a solid, successful IT career.

Kent joins his father, Dennis, in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Liz; children, Anna and Justin; his mother, Cherie; his brother, Mike (Sandra); stepbrother, Richard (Tania); Stepsister, Melanie; nephews and nieces, Ryan (Sierra), Sean, Steven (Neely), Megan, Diego, Joy, and Luca.

Liz has requested a celebration of life in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. All of Kent’s loved ones, friends, and coworkers are invited to join us in celebrating his life on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at Edgewood Country Club, 8399 Commerce Rd, Commerce, Michigan.
