James Harold Grady

James H. Grady, 91, of White Lake, died Friday, July 16, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born January 26, 1930, the son of Sarethna Octavia (Cobb) and William Edward Grady in Cardwell, Missouri, he married Sarah Hatch in December 1952 and they spent 67 years together before her death in 2019. His adoration of and devotion to Sarah were an inspiration.

Jim attended the University of Arkansas, served in the US Army during the Korean War, and later moved to Michigan where he worked 37 years for General Motors. He was a man with a curiosity to know and understand things for himself, including reading and researching his medical treatments on his iPad. He had a tinkerer's soul, and invented and secured a patent for his blind fastening system. He enjoyed a competitive game of cards, watching sports – and in his youth Jim was an avid tennis player himself – and having his family around him at his summer cottage on Lake Huron. He was generous to a fault and dedicated to his family. In his later years, he was a true Superman, overcoming multiple health obstacles without complaint. Jim is survived by his children Karen (Scott) Isgrigg of West Bloomfield, Linda Grady of Waterford, and Paul (Joan) Grady of Midland; his grandchildren Scott (Julie) Isgrigg, Travis (Karen) Isgrigg, Shane (Alyssa) Grady, and Tyler and Liam Grady; his great-granddaughters Grace and Megan Isgrigg and Carson Isgrigg; and his sister Terry Coy. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sarah, his treasured granddaughter Emily Isgrigg, three sisters, and two brothers.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Oxbow Lake Baptist Church, 10730 Elizabeth Lake Road in White Lake. The family will receive friends at church from 10:00am until the time of the service at 11:00am. Inurnment along with military honors will follow at 12:30pm at Ottawa Park Cemetery, 6180 Dixie Highway in Clarkston.
