He grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan playing pranks on his younger sister Melanie (Bob) Ursing and giving nuns a run for their money at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. He was a star athlete and he loved rowing and football.
He studied at Wayne State University where he received his Juris Doctorate, all while working nights laying railroad and starting his family with his sweet wife, Pamela Gessner.
He used his intelligence and logical problem solving to have a successful career at Detroit Edison where he solved the “unsolvable problems” and made lifelong friends.
He provided encouragement, support and guidance to his daughters, Nicole Gessner, Alexandra (Joe) Velez, and Gabriella Gessner.
He was a Facebook celebrity with thousands of friends who he cared for dearly. He loved posting dirty jokes, political rants bashing Trump and inspirational quotes.
He cherished his time as a member of the Solar club, Sierra club, Knights of Columbus, Canterbury board of directors, Leadership Oakland and Wayne State Engineering Alumni.
On the side he was always the loudest cheerleader at ALL dance team performances, obsessive dock builder, dog whisperer, amazon's number one costumer, James Brown karaoke singer and Royal Caribbean twist dance contest winner.
Memorial Mass will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00am (Gathering 10:00am) at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 9086 Hutchins Road, White Lake followed by a Celebration of Life Dinner.
