SheDuffy was born on May 22, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan to Gerald McKay and Thelma Edith (nee Geerling) Shipley. She graduated from Ford High School and later attended Lawrence Institute of Technology where she received her Associates Degree in math with a specialty in computers.
In 1978, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she met her future husband, Tom Bowman. Together they started a second family and raised two more children. One of her proudest moments was receiving the Arizona Republic’s Volunteer of the Year recognition. In 2010, after the death of her husband, she moved back to Michigan to live with her brother and sister.
Since the age of 10, she found her love for horses and began to ride English and compete in both jumping and dressage. She was a lifelong craftswomen and especially enjoyed knitting, crocheting, diamond art and indoor gardening. She also loved playing games, especially Mah Jongg. Duffy was a longtime active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She loved being a grandma and will be very much missed by all.
She is survived by her four children, Gerald (Carrie) Stedman, II, Derek (Laura) Stedman, Cindy Bowman and Michael (Dana) Bowman. She is also survived by her grandchildren, and her sister Sue Shipley. Sadly, she is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Thelma Shipley, her husband Tom Bowman and her brother Bruce Shipley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, 33900 W. 13 Mile Road in Farmington Hills. The family will receive friends from 9:30am until the time of the service at 11:00am.
A private interment will take place at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy.
