Marie Therese “Bitsy” Richard Adams, 90 years old, was born March 10, 1930. A native of Brusly St. Martin, Assumption Parish, and longtime resident of White Castle, she passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021. Her final days were spent surrounded by her children and their families.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who inspired us in many ways throughout her life. Her chosen career was to partner with her husband, L.G. “Sonny” in their sugar cane business; and to lovingly nurture her children. They deeply encouraged the value of education, and supported all seven children to completion of college educations. She enjoyed a huge extended family and hosted many joyful gatherings and celebrations in their Samstown home. She was the quintessential “Granny” who wholeheartedly spoiled her grandchildren. For almost 70 years, she was a faithful member, avid supporter and volunteer of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church Catholic Church and Elementary School in White Castle. She and her husband participated in all things farming, and were very active in the Iberville Parish Farm Bureau. She also served on the local FHA Board for several years. As empty nesters, she and Sonny delighted in many cross-country road trips appreciating the sites and scenery of America’s beautiful National Parks. And she thoroughly enjoyed weekly card games with her White Castle girlfriends.
She is survived by her seven children: Elizabeth (Larry Perez), Baton Rouge; Christine, Baton Rouge; Susan (Jimmy Aysenne), Napoleonville; L.G. III “Larry” (Terri), Prairieville; Lillia (Marc Noel), Prairieville; Stacey (Keith Ory), Baton Rouge; and Glynn, Slidell. Twelve grandchildren: Amanda Aysenne (Jeffrey Hemard), Lafayette; Courtney Aysenne (James Craven), Baton Rouge; Adam Aysenne (Alyssa), Napoleonville; Kali Adams (Steven Aucoin), Baton Rouge; Mattye Adams, Nashville, TN; L.G. “Sonny” Adams IV (Mallory) Rock Springs, WY; Marc Noel II (Katie), Morgan Hills, CA; Jeffrey Noel (Matthew Chustz), Austin, TX; Lauren Adams(Greg Perret), Slidell; Jonathan Adams, Baton Rouge; Glynn Michelle and Julia Adams, Slidell. Twelve great-grandchildren: Finley, Hayden and Grayson Hemard; Ellie and Jacob Craven; Madison and Lucas Aysenne; Korinne, Jaiden and Avery Aucoin; Claire Noel; and Zoe Therese Perret.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Guy “Sonny” Adams; her parents, Albert Joseph and Lillia Hebert Richard; nine siblings: Thomas Joseph Richard, Grace Richard Daigle, Mae Richard Daigle, Mary Lee “Buddie” Richard Bergeron, Clarisse Richard LeBlanc, Lena (Sr. Paula) Richard, Albert Joseph Richard, Jr., Leo Paul Richard and Rex Paul Richard.
