Margie Faye Henderson Smith, a resident of Plaquemine, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014, at her residence. She was 82 and retired from the Iberville Bank as a Insurance Secretary after 45 years of service. She loved reading and loved her family. She was deeply loved and shall be missed. Margie enjoyed her seafood and crime dramas.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held at her home in Plaquemine.
Survivors include her 2 daughters; Mona Francine Smith Nelms and special friend, John Pearce, and Colleen Smith, 1 brother; Laray Hodges and wife Jackie, a nephew; Davy Joe Crochet and wife Maggie, great niece; Gena Crochet, niece; Janae Barbier and husband Karl, great niece; Ami Barbier, great nephews; Tyler Barbier, and Richard Barbier, nephew; Kenny Rae Crochet and fiancé Tiffany Savant, great nephew; Jermey Barker, cousins; Joan Alba, L.W. Wilson, and Geneva Hall.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Dayton J. Smith of 57 years, her parents; Charlie Alonzo Henderson and Mary Beatrice Wilson Henderson, a sister-in-law; Joyce Ann Crochet, brother-in-law; Kenneth Crochet, father-in-law; Daton L. Smith, mother-in-law; Neola Smith.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Gerard Falgoust and Hospice of Baton Rouge, for their love and support, special thanks to all of her friends at Iberville Bank. Special thanks to the friends of the Meal Train who helped to care for her. A very special thanks to all of the friends who visited and prayed with us.
