Jennie Messina Medine, a native and resident of White Castle, passed away on August 26, 2018 at the age of 90 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed cooking, sewing quilts, spending time at the Council of Aging and taking bus trips to the casino. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, talking with others and was a loyal retiree of Walmart for 28 years. She is survived by two daughters, Gisele Turner and Emma Rodrigue (Teddy); three sons, Andrew G. Medine, Jr., (Myra), Brian P. Medine (Doreen) and Kevin J. Medine (Tammy); one sister, Marie Caruso; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew G. Medine, Sr.; her parents, Philip and Mary Messina; three sisters, Olivia Young, Lena Mae Aime and Virginia Granier; and three brothers, Joe T. Messina, Anthony P. Messina and Peter C. Messina. The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregivers Dorothy Hampton, Barbara Hogan, Adrian Morris, Linda Rodriguez and to the nurses and staff of Notre Dame Hospice of Baton Rouge for their kind compassionate care. A very special thanks to her granddaughters, Misty Turner and Gail Turner for their care and support during her final hours. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in White Castle from 9:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am.
