A dedicated and beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and retired sugarcane farmer; Dominick Campesi, Sr. of White Castle, La., passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024 in his home in White Castle with his family by his side. He was 83 years old.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Celeste Darce’ Campesi; children; Bryan Charles Campesi and wife Beth, Lynda Campesi LeGlue and husband Randell “Tootie”, Dominick Joseph Campesi Jr. and wife Sonji, Brad Michael Campesi and wife Paula; brother; Charles Campesi Jr.; Grandchildren; Travis LeGlue and wife Nikki, Devin LeGlue and wife Megan, Mary LeGlue Glover and husband Kenny, Bryce Campesi, Erynn Campesi, Emily Campesi Murray and husband Sean, Jacob Campesi and wife Jessica, Brennan Campesi, Grant Campesi, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his mother, Mae Lena Campesi; father; Charles Campesi Sr.; brothers; Joseph Campesi, Jervis Campesi, and Vincent Campesi.
A life-long resident of White Castle, Dominick was born on September 1, 1940. After graduating from Ascension Catholic High School, Dominick began farming sugarcane and built a successful business alongside of his family. He received multiple awards for having highest crop yield in the state and served on the board of directors of White Castle Fertilizer Co-Op and South Louisiana Production Credit Association. After retiring, he enjoyed fixing antique tractors in his shop and growing vegetables in his garden. His other passion away from the fields was his RV. He and Celeste enjoyed traveling in their motorhome for long cross-country trips after each harvest season and many weekends.
Pallbearers are Travis LeGlue, Devin LeGlue, Bryce Campesi, Jacob Campesi, Brennan Campesi, and Grant Campesi.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 8:30 am until 10:45 am at Ourso Funeral Home in White Castle. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in White Castle, LA. Interment will follow in the Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum in White Castle.
