She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed by family and friends. She was a retired telephone operator and a homemaker. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 30 years.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Ronald J. Bergeron; one son Ron A. Bergeron and wife Jaime Nickens of White Castle; two daughters Marianna T. Bergeron of White Castle and Julia Bergeron Dupont and husband Bradley Dupont of Baton Rouge; and four beautiful grandchildren which she adored, Chase and Colby Bergeron of White Castle and Gracie and Adrianna Dupont of Baton Rouge. Also survived by mother-in-law Thelma Dugas Bergeron; one aunt Lena Catanzaro Canella and also her Godmother Camella Guercio Morris.
She was preceded in death by her father Biaggio “Braus” Sciortino; mother Anna Canella Sciortino; brother Salvatore J. Sciortino; father-in-law, Harry J. Bergeron and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed making and sharing her delicious homemade Italian Cookies with everyone.
A special thanks to Dr. Stagg and his staff and also the wonderful, caring, and spiritual nurse and clergical staff at Our Lady of the Lake.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Ourso Funeral Home in White Castle from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Monday, October 10, 2011 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in White Castle at 1:30 p.m. Entombment to follow in church mausoleum.
