Bill was born to William and Dixie Hensley on June 13, 1950, in Springfield, Missouri. After graduating from high school, Bill earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Northern Colorado, and then his master's degree in psychology at Adams State University in Alamosa, CO.
After working on an Indian Reservation in North Dakota, he decided to pursue his dream to ski and work in Aspen, CO, where he met his wife, Mary Ann Schlegel. Together, they had 4 children: Jesse, Megan, James, and Mary Elizabeth.
Bill loved spending time in the mountains. He was an expert skier and retired member of the Loveland Ski Patrol. He was a golfer, bike rider, rock climber and occasionally could be found playing a game of pool with his good friend Jay.
He was currently living out his dream, by building his and Mary Ann's retirement home in South Fork, CO.
Bill was a general contractor by trade, a skilled craftsman. He hand crafted all of the elements of their beautiful home.
When he wasn't working on the home, he could be found spending time with Mary Ann and their dog Cisco at their home in Golden.
Bill enjoyed music, a good cigar and glass of Irish whiskey, as well as cooking and sharing pictures of his delicious food with his (envious) family members. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Bill is preceded in death by his father William, mother Dixie, and daughter Beth. He is survived by his wife Mary Ann, son Jesse (Erin), Megan (Ross), and James (Erin), and grandchildren Jonathon, Mary, Justin, Everly, Charli and Billie.
A memorial service is scheduled for 12 pm on February 20, 2022 at the Arbor House in Maple Grove Park, 14600 32nd Ave in Golden. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local homeless shelter on his behalf.
