Virginia Sorensen (Blythe) went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2024 at her home in Denver, Colorado. Virginia (Ginny) was born March 23,1940 in Springfield, Missouri to T. Roger and Harriette Blythe (Steele).
Virginia’s family moved to Tucson, Arizona and then to Nashville, Tennessee and back to Tucson while she was growing up. She graduated from Tucson High School in 1958 and went on to Biola Bible College in Los Angeles.
Virginia was united in marriage to Keith R. Sorensen, August 12, 1960, in Tucson and then made their home in Phoenix, Arizona.
Virginia and Keith moved to Denver, Colorado in 1968 where she opened her home to daytime child care to support the family and reached out to her community through back yard Bible clubs while being active at Berean Baptist Church.
Virginia's life was one of love, service, acceptance and care all wrapped in a strong faith, sprinkled with a sense of humor and enjoyed every minute with her family, friends, church and community.
Virginia was an active and supportive pastor's wife and mother, serving churches with her husband. She was a cornerstone in their ministry, touching many lives through children’s ministries, music, Christian education, an amazing gift of hospitality and a huge heart for supportive and intercessory prayer. She and her family moved to Muscatine, Iowa in 1972 to serve the Hillcrest Baptist Church (Lincoln Blvd) until returning to Denver in 1983 to serve at New Life Fellowship (Judson Memorial).
She loved people of all ages and considered everyone in her orbit not only a friend but family. She welcomed all into her home and heart with open arms, whether a church member, new attender, neighbor, grocery store clerk or the postman. Once you made her special calendar you would never be forgotten. She studied her calendar regularly to ensure all important events were remembered.
Virginia and Keith had 3 sons, and she is survived by, Richard (Rick) with special friend Bonnie (Nelsen); Gary, who is married to Lois (Bartz); and Jonathan (Jon), who is married to Christine (Weil).
Virginia is also survived by the following grandchildren: To Gary and Lois: Kelby, married to Lauren; Kyle, married to Kaitlynne; To Rick, and former wife, Deborah (Nelson): Travis, married to Dana; Torrey, married to Emily; Tyler; Taran, with special friend, Cheyenne; and Tanner, married to Chelsey. To Jon, and former wife, Susan (Schaal): Alyssa and Andrew; To Christine: Drew, Danielle and Max; To Bonnie (Nelsen): Dylan, Marissa and Lacie.
Virginia is survived by 10 great grandchildren: To Travis and Dana: Keiran, Rayne, Arken and Roan; To Torrey and Emily: Lilia and Lavendel; To Taran and former wife, Samantha: Ryker and Brielle; To Kyle and Kaitlynne: Levi and Adalynne.
She is also survived by nephew, Kenneth Zuck and niece, Barbara Hanes (Zuck) and many other nieces, nephews, in- laws, spiritually adopted children, grand children and many others whom she all considered her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: T. Roger Blythe and Harriette; An infant brother; Her sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Roy Zuck; Grandson, to Gary and Lois: Kacey; Grandson, to Christine: Kane.
Virginia, Mrs. Sorensen, Mom, Ginny, Grandma, Great Grandma, Aunt, Sister, “Honey”; No matter what you called her, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her and by all who were blessed to come into contact with her.
