Virginia Mejia passed away peacefully, holding her beloved husband's hand and surrounded by family. She was born on October 23, 1943, in Manzanola, Colorado, one of nine siblings she was the daughter of Fernando Chacon Arrieta and Tomasita Hernandez Arrieta.
Virginia embarked on a new chapter of her life in Denver after graduating from high school. There, she courageously established a new life in the bustling city of Denver, Colorado. She relished her independence, exploring California, Mexico, and Alaska with family and friends. She found a job with the Police Department as a phone operator. Soon after she met her Husband, Fernando Mejia, with whom she shared fifty two years of love and companionship. She then began working at Denver Health in the Administration Department, where she steadily climbed the ranks to become an Assistant Director.
Virginia's strength and independence were truly extraordinary. Her infectious laugh and radiant smile were a testament to her resilience. She was not only reliable and diligent but also selflessly contributed without seeking recognition, inspiring those around her with an unwavering spirit.
Virginia's most treasured legacy is her family. She was a dedicated Mother and Wife, fostering a deep bond with all three of her daughters and all five of her grandchildren. Each had a profound personal connection with her, a testament to her unwavering love and devotion. She loved to read, travel, and hike. After she retired, she traveled globally, spent time with her grandchildren, joined a hiking group, worked part-time for the Denver Performance Arts Center, and volunteered at her local parish.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Fernando, three daughters, Imelda her pillar of strength, Aidee her nurturer by nature, and Noemi (Josh) her constant companion. Grandchildren, Alejandro, Nicholas, Emilio, Isabelle, and Oliva were her pride and joy.
