She was born October 15, 1923 in Tipton, Pennsylvania to John Blair and Blanche Minerva (Coover) Greene. She was the youngest of 12 children. Her father passed away when Virginia was an infant, so she grew up helping her mother. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland for her youngest child’s health and later, followed her oldest daughter and son to Colorado. She had a few jobs in her life, but her main passion was her family, her pets and helping others. She never had much but what she did, she shared. She gave to her Indian Kids, the Humane Society and to Veterans. She spent the last 3 ½ years of her life making new friends at the Broomfield Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 6 brothers; 5 sisters; husband, Charles Samuel Dickson, Sr.; daughter, Patricia Anne Dickson; granddaughter, Deborah Sue Allison; son-in-law, Russell Allison; and numerous pets, including Mimi, Penny and Freddie.
Virginia is survived and will be strongly missed by her children, Betty Sue Dickson, Peggy Jane Allison and Charles Samuel (Carol) Dickson, Jr.;
Grandchildren, Rea, Pam, Mark, Laura, Michael, Sherry, Dawn and Johnny; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild, born on Virginia’s birthday this year.
A visitation will be held from 3-5pm, Sunday, January 4, 2015 and her funeral service will be at 12:00pm, Monday, January 5, 2015, both at Olinger Crown Hill.
