Tyler Edward Matus was born November 10, 1988 to Dave and Stacey Matus. He graduated from Pomona High School in 2007 and from Metro State University with BS in Aviation Technology in 2012. Tyler worked in the restaurant business from 2009-2017. He worked for Texas de Brazil in Denver as a server and bartender, in Albany and Syracuse, NY as an assistant manager and in Pittsburgh, PA as a general manager. From there he came back to Denver, CO and was a manager at Henry's Tavern. On a chance encounter, Tyler found himself interested in applying for a job at Federated Insurance in 2018, and he was employed there until his death. Throughout his career Tyler worked his way up from barback to manager in the restaurant industry, he made Chairman's Council with Federated Insurance, and he was a small aircraft pilot.
Tyler loved to play golf, baseball, football and many other sports. He liked to hike, camp, spend time with family and meet new people. The Rocky Mountains were one of his favorite places to explore.
Tyler had a great sense of empathy and often wore his heart on his sleeve. He loved fiercely, was extremely loyal and gave the best hugs. Tyler had a great work ethic and sense of personal responsibility.
Tyler impacted the people around him by being genuine and big hearted. He was always ready with a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on or an ear to listen. He was a great influence to his two nephews, and he adored them.
Tyler will be missed by his parents Dave and Stacey Matus, Arvada, Colorado; sister Santana Matus, Arvada, Colorado; nephews Brayden and Jaxson Richards, Arvada, Colorado; grandparents Gene and Sandy Coffelt, Rocky Ford, Colorado; Paul and Kip Malone from Boise, Idaho and many aunts, uncles, and cousins from all over Colorado.
The Memorial Service for Tyler Matus will be Tuesday July 7th at 9:30 a.m., Due to COVID, seating will be restricted to Family and Select Friends. We will be providing a live-stream of the funeral service on Tuesday so you can be included in the celebration of his life. You can access the broadcast from any computer or phone that is connected to the internet (wifi or data on your phone).
