Troy was born in Englewood Colorado on August 28, 1968. He grew up riding BMX around the states and was nationally ranked for most of his career. He graduated from Heritage High School in Littleton in 1990 where he met and began dating his wife Lori. They were married in 1990 shortly after his career at the fire department started. They have two children – daughter Carley Jackson of Castle Rock and son Covey Jackson of Littleton along with his wife Courtney. Troy is survived by them along with his parents Donna and Paul Jackson of Littleton and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews. His love and devotion for his family was unparalleled. He was deeply blessed with phenomenal friends, neighbors and brothers and sisters of the fire service.
In 2013 Chief Jackson was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma, a rare job-related terminal cancer. Despite the physical and emotional challenges of his illness Chief Jackson triumphed as a phenomenal leader and mentor and will be remembered as such.
Chief Jackson was hired as a Firefighter in 1990 and went on to have an unbelievably successful career in the fire service, promoting to Engineer in 1995; Lieutenant in 1997; Captain in 2005; Training Bureau Chief in 2015; and finally, to the rank of Assistant Chief of Operations in 2016. Chief Jackson stepped down in August of 2019 due to the deterioration of his health. During his career he obtained his undergraduate and master’s degrees as a way to continually improve his contributions to his profession and life.
