Lisle Thomas “Tom” Woodford was born August 16, 1935 to Lisle and Eunice Woodford in Hereford Texas. Tom was an Eagle Scout and was named “Mr. Hereford High”. He graduated from CU Boulder with a degree in political science, and married Marty, the love of his life, in 1958. He attended CU law school, graduating in two and a half years in January of 1961. Tom was in private practice in Jefferson County for nearly 30 years and in 1990 was appointed as a Jefferson County District Court Judge, taking office in January of 1991. He was the chief judge from 2000-2003 and retired in 2005. Tom was an avid golfer, he and Marty played all over the world, including the old course at St. Andrews and several courses in New Zealand. He served as president of the Applewood Golf Course Men’s Club. He also loved a good game of poker and was an avid CU football fan, maintaining season tickets for well over 45 years. His main life’s passion was for the law and he took great pleasure and pride in helping people and his community. He was president of the Wheat Ridge Chamber of Commerce and of the 1st Judicial Bar Association and was the original chairman of the editorial board of “The Colorado Lawyer”. He represented the Wheat Ridge Fire District and hundreds of individuals in criminal cases, business matters, family law and estate planning. He cared deeply for his clients and strived to ensure they received fair treatment under the law. As a judge, he took great satisfaction in ensuring everyone was treated fairly and he was known to be courtly, timely and very respectful. He was proud of his daughters, Karen Flanagan (Dan), Ann McGowan and Jean (Tom Norris) and granddaughters Erin, Devon and Megan McGowan and will be missed by them immensely. He is also survived by his loving brother, William "Bill" Woodford of Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his honor to The Action Center, 8755 W. 14th Ave., Lakewood, CO 80215.
