Theodore Jack Norton was born in Bethany, Missouri on December 9, 1935, to Theodore Henry and Viola Victorene Norton. He spent his early years in Niwot, Colorado, where he learned to fish and hike. Later, they moved to Denver, Colorado, where he attended Denver Public Schools.
In August of 1953, Jack joined the United States Air Force as a radio operator and technician and served in Italy in 1956. It was an experience that left a great impression on him. He was discharged in 1957 and received the National Defense Service Medal.
After that, Jack moved back to the Denver area and started a career at Texaco. There, he worked as a printer and produced aerial maps of oil wells. Not one to be idle, he had his own printing business that he worked on after hours. Upon retiring, he set up shop as “Norton & Son”. In addition to commercial printing, he was very generous in providing printing services for his church and a number of non-profits.
Jack was very active in the Denver West Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He sang in the choir and went on missionary trips to Ecuador and Panama City.
Although he became an ardent bowler, he developed a love for, and great proficiency as, a pool player. With his grandson, Buddy, he joined a pool group and played many tournaments locally and in Las Vegas. Also, for recreation, he enjoyed outings to Blackhawk with his wife, Kathy.
Jack was surrounded by a loving family, including: his wife of 46 years, Kathy; son Shawn (Monica); daughter Toni (Roger); son Christopher (Lori); and Daughters Debra (Mark), and Dallas (Josh). He was blessed with fifteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
