She grew up on her family’s Pascal Celery farm in the Fruitdale area of Wheat Ridge. She lived there until May of 1946 when she met and married Robert Tubbs of Golden. She lived in Golden until her death.
Thelma stayed home raising her five children until 1967 when she began working in the cafeteria for the Jefferson County Public Schools. She continued working for Jeffco Schools until her retirement in 1988.
Thelma and Robert traveled extensively after her retirement, and after Robert’s death continued her love of travel with her family.
Thelma is survived by her five children, Sherry Jacobs, Shirley Haynes, Patrick Tubbs (Kathy), Nancy Tubbs, and Robert Tubbs Jr (Deanna), nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Thelma, October 29, 2022 at the Golden Community Center (1470 10th Street) from 11:00- 2:00 pm.
