I am so sorry to hear of Sherman's passing. I worked with Sherman out at Rocky Flats (not as a sheet metal worker but instead I provided security training to everyone on the site).  I first met him during a class in 1995 when he asked me if I was John Bruce's daughter.  My dad was also a sheet metal worker (local #9) and they worked together on and off for years. I said yes and from then on I always had at least one smiling face in my annual security training.  Sherman was also my dad's childhood best friend Ronnie Bement's neighbor.  The last time my dad and I saw him was actually at Ronnie's funeral a little over a year ago.  Sherman was always happy and so nice to talk to.  He was definitely one of the good ones.  Our condolences to your beautiful family.  He will truly be missed. 

When we moved from AZ to CO in 2012, we didn’t know a soul here. We were so lucky to move into the house across the cul de sac from the Jarretts.  We weren’t entirely hopeless ... but there were many adjustments and lots of things to learn. When we were stumped on anything having to do with the maintenance of our house or yard, we always knew what door to knock on! Sherman would not only know the solution, but would have the tool in his garage to get it done!  The years we spent in that house were so special. Sherman and Anita would come out and chat with us, chuckling as our small children played.  We always went to their house first when trick or treating or sharing Christmas cookies. When my folks came to visit, my dad couldn’t resist any chance to have a chat with Sherman, with a little side of political ribbing of course! Reflecting on this sad, sad loss ... my heart is warmed and thankful to know that my family was touched by goodness. We can only aspire to pass it forward ... albeit through a much less proficient garage. We will do our best Sherman, Rest In Peace dear friend.
