Rebecca F. Davis

Rebecca was born in St Francis, Kansas on April 6, 1930 to Ambrose Ben Dowd and Lillie May Dowd. She was one of three children, which included her older sister, Iona Oldenberg and younger brother Thomas Dowd. The family moved to Denver when she was 10 years old.

Rebecca met her husband John Davis and they were married in March of 1948. After seven years of marriage, working hard, and enjoying each other's company, they were blessed with 3 children; Brenda, John and Diana within a three year span.

John and Rebecca were the instrument of teaching their children about God's love, faith and the church. They also taught their children compassion, respect, hard work, virtue, morals and ethics. The most important thing they taught their children was to love god, our faith, family, your neighbors, and how to live as Jesus wants his children to live. John and Rebecca's children lived as their parents lived. We lived from example and we have grown up to be who we are from their example.

John and Rebecca had a one of a kind love story, being together for 73 years of marriage. They became one in body, soul, emotion and spirituality. You never saw them together without Dad holding Mom's hand. John and Rebecca loved each other more than anyone could possibly imagine. She was his life and he was her life. They were again as stated one body, one soul, one spirit. They were one.

Rebecca's love for God, Mother Mary, Jesus, St Joseph and all the other saint's apostles was astounding. This was shown in how she lived and in her love for her family, neighbors, and anyone that needed help. She always had a kind heart and was the most giving woman towards everyone. She mentored children and taught them things, and became an instrument in their lives until her passing. Rebecca was a second mom to many other neighborhood children, now adults, that still kept in touch with her until her passing. They never forgot the care and love she had for them.

Mom worked many jobs to help keep the family going. She worked many years on the graveyard shift for Gates Rubber Company. She worked at mechanic companies and also for many years at Denver Public Schools as a special education paraprofessional. She took care of the children who needed special help.

Mom was an amazing woman. She always put everyone first and herself last. She had great compassion, understanding, kindness, acceptance and never judged a person.

Mom loved and cared for her children, they were her most important treasure.

Rebecca leaves behind her oldest daughter Brenda, her son John, and her youngest daughter Diana. She also leaves behind; 7 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 3 great grandsons, 2 great granddaughters, and her sister, Iona.

Rebecca was preceded in death by the love her her life, her husband John on 5/31/2021, her parents Ambrose and Lillie Mae Dowd, and her brother, Thomas Dowd.

We have all been so blessed to have had her as a mother, grandmother, and aunt. She will be missed more than words can ever express.

She is now with our heavenly Father and the love of her life, John, with eternal peace.

We love and miss you greatly Mom & Dad ~ Brenda, John and Diana. We will deeply miss our mother.

A rosary service for Rebecca will be held Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 2190 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80219. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM, 2190 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80219. A committal service will occur Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 2:25 PM at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Ave., Denver, CO 80236.
