Rachel Nicole Wise, age 24, passed away August 8, 2019. She was born April 7, 1995. Rachel was a beloved daughter and adored granddaughter who left us far too soon. Rachel’s joy and loving presence will be missed deeply by her family. Rachel valued family and traditions, and she will be remembered by all who knew her as a sweet and gentle soul, who had endless empathy for others.
In her young life she hadn’t settled on a career path but the jobs she most enjoyed were those where she interacted with children, working as a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard, and her jobs supervising children’s activities at Wooden Shoe and Apex Recreation centers.
Rachel loved organization and always wanted to know what was next. She created lists for everything, and often times the lists took longer to create than the chores themselves. A favorite tradition for Rachel was her annual family vacation at Lake Powell, with her Grandparents and her Aunt and Uncle. She loved water skiing and surfing, and even fishing with her Papa there, as long as she didn’t have to touch the fish!
Rachel is survived by her daughter Aubree Daysha Meraz; mother and father Susan (Joe) Hernandez; father Dennis Wise; brother Aaron Wise; sister Rachel Maestas; brother Brent Hernandez; great grandmother Madelyn Christian; grandparents Bill and Carole Schaefer; grandmother Elva Wise; aunts and uncles: Sheri Facinelli & Randy Radford, Carole & John Bryant, Ed & Judy Wise, Stacy & Michael Blunn and numerous nieces & cousins.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in remembrance of Rachel. Charities that would have meaning to Rachel would be those related to epilepsy, children’s charities or substance abuse for young adults
