Phyllis graduated from Severy High School in 1952. She continued her education and went to Nursing School in Emporia, Kansas. Her career as a nurse was short lived due to a back injury. She married Lowell John Fox on June 1, 1955. They moved to Colorado where she lived the rest of her life. To this union, two daughters were born. Gayla Jo and Tammy Kay. Phyllis worked in department stores through to her long awaited retirement from K-Mart. After retiring, she looked forward to winters in Arizona as a snowbird, away from Colorado's snow and cold weather. Summers always found her out in the yard enjoying her iris gardens. She also enjoyed reading the Bible from beginning to end every year, a challenge that began at church one year. The last few months of her life, she looked forward to getting her hair done every Friday, when she was able to go.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters; Gayla Jo Fox of Ft. Lupton and Tammy (Patrick) Gallagher of Arvada, a sister, Nina Church of Edwardsville, Kansas, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Christopher and Hazel Ghramm; her brothers, Clyde, Lawrence, Gaylord and a baby brother that passed away not long after birth; her sisters, Opal, Fern and Vera; her husbands, Lowell Fox and Vern Varney and grandson Jonathan.
