Patricia Ann Nixon

Patricia Ann (Padden) Nixon, born in St. Paul, Minn. on Nov 3, 1942, died peacefully in her sleep in her Denver home, March 1, 2015, with a book in her lap and a legacy of caring and compassion in her wake. Wife to Walter Robert Nixon Jr., mother to Luke Monroe and Allison Moledo, and grandmother to McKenna, Kendall and Adriana (all of Denver), she was the matriarch – the grande dame of the Padden clan. She is also survived by her 101-year-old mother, Isabelle Lillian (Granger) Padden (Aurora), brother John Michael Padden (K.C., MO), sister Eileen Mary Padden (Denver) and brother Richard William Padden (Loveland, CO). Pat was a speech therapist by profession, devoting a career to helping others find expression, and was above all else a listener of boundless empathy. She listened to the voices of the Colorado outdoors, to music of every beat and note, to authors of every bent, to chefs of every cuisine and most significantly to everyone in her life. She listened carefully, and responded to what she heard with genuine interest, concern, and uncommon gentleness. Her departure leaves an empty space in many lives, but they are the very same lives that she’d already filled to the brim with love. Well done, Pat. You left far more than you took.
