Mary E. Hill

Mary is survived by 2 children Mary Lynn (Hill) Thompson and Rodger Lee Hill Jr (Kimberly), 2 grandchildren: John Edward Thompson (Jennifer), and Eleanor Lieann Hill, 8 great-grandchildren: Erin Ratcliffe, Amanda Mayorga, Mary Wilson, Sarah Yeager, Arthur Burgandine, Cameron Thompson, Coventry Thompson and Beckett Graves, and 10 great-great-grandchildren: Toni, Delilah, Devin, Drake, Darla, Ella, Mariah, Silas, Eziekel and Valentine.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Rodger Lee Hill Sr, granddaughter Susan Melis Hill, and great-granddaughters, Melissa Burgandine and Madeline Thompson.

Mary was born in Urbanna, Virginia December 21, 1925. She was the second oldest of 5 children. Her maiden name was Van Wagenen.

She was raised in Greenville North Carolina. Her father was a painter for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and her mother was a homemaker. For a few years her family moved to the Norfolk, Virginia area where she met her husband while attending high school. She was married in Colorado Springs, Colorado on May 22, 1944. She moved to Denver, Colorado in 1952 where she worked for the phone company for over 40 years. She was in Operator Services and retired as a manager in that department.

A funeral service for Mary will be held on Saturday, January 14 2023 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary at 2:00 pm with burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held the evening before from 5 pm until 7 pm.
