Margaret Carlin Magor, 95, of Denver, died on December 12, 2012. Margaret, and her twin sister, Mary Elizabeth, were born in Denver on October 6, 1917. Her parents were Thomas Payne Carlin and Maude Marie Patterson. A graduate of North High School, she married Frank S. Magor on February 24, 1938. A very creative person, Margaret had numerous hobbies—painting (primarily with oils), making copper enamel jewelry, sewing (many clothes for her children and grandchildren as well as for herself), arranging flowers she gathered and dried, gardening, and interior decorating. Margaret retired from Gates Rubber Company in 1976 after 25 years of service.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Margo (Eugene) Shimel, Longmont; her son Stephen Magor, Lakewood; and seven grandchildren: Lisa (John Davis) Shimel, Aurora; Julie (Wayne) Church, Lyons; Traci Shimel, Thornton; Carrie Shimel, Loveland; Paul (Bridget) Magor, Arvada; Todd (Patti) Magor, Thornton; and Neil (Angie) Magor, Arvada. Todd and Neil will be pallbearers at the service.
Survivors also include thirteen great grandchildren: Adam and Justin Davis, Aurora; Katie Church, Lyons; Robin (Jeremy) Visbal, Thornton; Cody and Kenzi Buehler, Berthoud; Clayton and Colby Magor, Arvada; Cory Magor, Broomfield; Madison and William Magor, Thornton; Derek and Melissa Magor, Denver. Five great-great grandchildren survive Margaret: Hailey, J.J., and Sophie Visbal, Thornton; Braxton Peterson, Berthoud; and Bentley Magor, Arvada.
Margaret leaves behind three special nephews for whom she and Frank served as guardians after their father and then their mother (Margaret’s twin sister, Betty) died. They are: Thomas and Mark (Susan) Harper, Georgetown, TX; and Kenneth (Marva) Harper, Colorado Springs. They are honoring Margaret by serving as pallbearers. Margaret saw herself as grandmother to their children: Randy Harper, Denver; Holly Harper, Portland, OR; Kendra and Megan Harper, Colorado Springs; Ross Harper, Denver; and Daniel Harper and Kristin Lemon, Georgetown, TX.
Margaret is also survived by a great niece, Ginger Bybee, Las Vegas, NV, who always remembered holidays and birthdays with a card, flowers or chocolates.
In lieu of flowers, Margaret is requesting contributions to the Salvation Army.
Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush, I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there. I did not die.
