Lyle Donald Young passed away in his sleep on December 31, 2014 at Villa Manor in Lakewood Colorado. Lyle was born August 12, 1926 in Denver, Colorado. He was proceeded in death by his sister Irene Avis Lobban and his parents Merle and Beulah Young. He will be lovingly remembered by three nieces (Lylia Puckett, Tammy Holcombe, Florence Sandoval), three nephews (George Shaw, James M. Lobban and Donald Lobban), 26 great nieces/nephews and his brother in-law James L. Lobban.
Lyle attended school at Barnum in Denver, he began selling magazines as a young child to help support the family after his father Merle passed away. As a young adult he drove an ambulance for Fitzsimons Army Hospital during World War II transporting wounded soldiers from Lowry AFB. This led to his life long occupation as a truck driver and member of the Teamsters Union. Lyle married Margie and several years later divorced. Lyle was a backyard mechanic, he loved cars, especially modified stock cars. He worked on a pit crew at the Lakeside Speedway and Englewood Speedway. In his midlife he enjoyed watching the Rocky Mountain Midgets race at all the local tracks going as far as Colorado Springs. He enjoyed going to Nevada with his close friend Tom Shrau for road rallies.
After Lyle retired he enjoyed spending his summers at his second home in Montrose Colorado and following NASCAR racing. He loved his pet dog Pepe, the light of his life.
Lyle was a generous man who helped many people and dear brother in-law, uncle, friend, and neighbor who will be missed by all.
