Leonard J. Shields Sr.

74, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017 in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. A 35 year veteran of the United States Army, retired Lt. Colonel, Vietnam Veteran, Bronze Star recipient, and a retired Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff. He was a member of N.R.A., A.A.R.P. and the R.O.A.A.

Leonard is survived by his loving family; his wife of 48 years, Connie Sue Shields, children; daughter Teresa Louise Anderson, son Jeffery Dean Shields, son Samuel Jay Shields, son Leonard James Shields, Jr., son Matthew Arthur Shields, and a son Scott Sherman, his mother Vivian Joyce Shields, grandchildren; Amanda Elizabeth Louise Aberly, Katherine Anita Sue Heiderstadt, Fallon Ann Shields, Jeffery Dean Shields, Jr., Tiffany Jolene Mondragon, Natalie Joyce Zender, Kayleigh Michael Shields, Nicholas Matthew Shields, Scarlet Shields, Alison Taylor Miller, Berlin Shields, Ella Shields, Christopher Ian Jones, Asia Sunshine Shields, Sakari Enola Shields, Abby Sherman, Jena Sherman, and Madysen Shields, great-grandchildren; Emily Anita Aberly, Ethan Scott Aberly, Aerin Joyce Zender, and Keira Eve Zender, siblings; Robert Alan Shields, Eugene Gerald Shields, and Jeanette Joyce Byler. He was preceded in death by his father James Leonard Shields, Jr.
