Leland is one of those wonderful people that you love to be around. He always had a smile on his face and in his heart. I worked with him at First Natl Bk. He will be missed by many.

Judy and Family,
We were so sorry to hear of Leland's passing.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.  Leland was a great mentor and friend as I started my career at Boatmen's.  He also knew how to have fun as I recall the Watkins Court Accounting tailgates with "bulls milk" or as he pitched for our Trust Dept. in the Bank softball tournament.  Leland had a special way of making everyone feel better and he will truly be missed.

Leland was my mentor as I began my career in the trust business.  He was my manager and my friend.  I remember all the parties at the end of tax season.  So much fun!  My husband bowled with Leland on the bank's bowling team and had great stories of those week nights.  We are so very sorry to learn of his passing.  Your family is in our thoughts and prayers. Judy, I want to tell you again how much I respected Leland.  He was a great boss and friend.  We worked and played hard.  Your after tax season parties are ones that I will always remember.  They made all the hard work worth while.   I'm so sorry we won't be able to attend the services. May you and your family find peace in knowing that you are in our prayers.

I can't believe this technology .  My daughter did this for me. To be able to read these messages makes me cry and then laugh..  Thank you all for taking the time to send these messages. They are wonderful to read.

Leland was one of the nicest people I knew.  He could make you laugh without even trying and always took time to talk to you and asked about your family.  I worked with him in Trust for many years and thought of him often after I went to another dept.
He was one of those people you just never forgot about.

Leland will be in my prayers always. My deepest sympathy is with every member of his family.

To the Casady family,
Please accept my prayers and deep sympathy over your loss of one of the finest people I've known. I worked with Leland at FNBKC-he an officer in the Trust Dept, and I in Commecial Loans. We aften luched together in the bank's suberb cafeteria with Leland's fellow Trust officers: Bob Wharton, Tom Foster, Dick James, Joe Kresse, and Gary Stewart. 

I loved to duck hunt and had a camo blind on my jon boat that I often took to Truman Lake. The first time I hunted there with Leland, Foster, and Wharton on board, out  we went and set up our duck decoys. Wharton brought his Army duffel bagquited loaded it seemed to me? Then, when he dug into it there was among other items, an old iron skillet and a Coleman stove which he fired up and cooked breakfast of eggs and bacon. Plates and forks for all of us! Then Wharto grabbed from the bag a box of old paper shot shells that were at least 25  years old.  I thought to myself "What kind of hunters  do I have here." I soon found out.

Leland was a heck of a shot with his Mossberg pump and I remember we both were out of the boat wading after a couple of downed ducks when a group of Canada geese flew out over a tree line at least 70 yds away.  Leland raised his gun and I tried to stop him from firing , but he pulled the trigger ... and the geese kept on flying.  I snapped "Leland, those were way out of range!" He said, "Its not there yet!" Just then a big ol' goose tumbled down through the flooded timber and I was amazed.  Leland patted his full choke Mossberg as if to say "good girl."  Then if we walked a step, we waded 80 yards to retrieve the dead bird. It wasn't luck, he repeated similar shots several times over in the hunts we did together in the years ahead.

I left FNBKC in 1981 to take a job elsewhere.  But I shall always remember Leland big jawed grin and laughter. He was prince of a fellow and loved and respected through out the bank...a one of kind.

I pray that we get to hunt together again, Leland, Bob, and I in the heavenly marshes.

May God comfort you all and hold you in His embrace at this time of sorrow.
