Leanne Marie Eckel Emm bid us farewell on March 26, 2024, at her home in Littleton, Colorado. Born December 16, 1961, a Fourth Generation Colorado Native, she was an understated force of nature, respected by all who shared in her journey.
Leanne lived life to the fullest, embracing every adventure with open arms and a heart full of love. From her early days, she displayed a ferocious intellect matched only by her boundless dedication to her family, friends, and community. Known for her generosity and unwavering support, Leanne was a beacon of light in the lives of those she touched.
Her career was a whirlwind tour of public service, taking her from the City of Sheridan to the Jefferson County School District and eventually leading to her role as Deputy Commissioner of the Colorado Department of Education. Retirement was just a new avenue to service as she continued on the Board of Directors for the Cat Care Society, McREL International, and was nominated as a candidate for the Colorado House of Representatives.
It wasn't "all work and no play" for Leanne. Much of her time was spent rafting rivers of the West, hiking scenic trails across the world, and planning adventures abroad. When home, she worked to achieve her yoga and fitness goals, brightened every room with her watercolor paintings, and enjoyed napping in the sun with her cats.
As we bid farewell to Leanne, let us remember her not with tears, but with joy and laughter. She may be gone, but her spirit will forever dance along the riverbanks. Cheers to a life well-lived and a soul deeply loved.
