John and I became friends in about 1966 while working District 2. About six officers and wives formed a card Club and would meet once a month at one of our homes for supper, cards, games and fun. In 1986 I became the commander of the communication Bureau and John was a dispatcher and he was the best. He could handle any situation like shootings, chases, stick ups with a cam steady and efficient manner. He received many accommodations for his actions. John was a good gentle and kind man. He was my friend. May God bless him.

It was a pleasure working beside John in the radio room! God bless and comfort you in your time of grief!

My condolences  to John's family and friends.  I worked with John in dispatch for 15 years. He was always  kind to everyone and always willing to share his knowledge  and expertise  with all of us . He was one of the good guys. He will be missed . RIP John

I met John in 1969 when I was a rookie. I was impressed by him. Later on, one of the best dispatchers ever. What a great guy!!!!

A father who taught his boys how to be men, and how to face life head on. Dad always let you know you were loved and that although life could be difficult, you were ultimately in charge of your own destiny.  After an ATV accident when I was 15, my father walked into the hospital room I was in, cane to my bedside, and calmly said “well, bet you won’t want to do this again anytime soon, huh”?  He had already learned I was going to be fine and recover. He had an ability to calm a person in any situation and make it feel stable. As a kid there was nothing that my father could not fix or solve. Aided me in growing up with confidence and pride in myself. I will miss “Pops” and am truly grateful to have been his kid.
