In Loving Memory of John
John Charles Bergin, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born in Denver, Colorado on 11 November 1931. He passed away peacefully in Erie, Colorado on 11 January 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, kindness, cherished memories, and the quiet strength that touched the lives of all who knew him.
After a couple years of being a Denver Firefighter, John dedicated many years of his life to his work at Rocky Flats, where he showcased his commitment, dedication, and hard work. As a proud veteran of the Korean War, John exemplified courage and commitment in serving his country.
As a man of faith, John found solace and strength in his Catholic beliefs. His commitment to his religious values was a guiding force throughout his life, providing him with comfort and purpose.
John embraced life's adventures with enthusiasm and found joy in spending time with family and friends. He had a passion for playing tennis, whether it was a friendly match with friends or a competitive game with family members, embraced the beauty of nature through hiking, enjoyed the camaraderie of friends at the rec center, and sought adventure in water rafting. John's love for life was evident in every pursuit.
John shared an incredible 67 years of love and companionship with his beloved spouse, Peggy. Together, they weathered life's joys and challenges, creating a legacy of love that will endure through the generations.
John was preceded in death by his son, Matt, and siblings Bill, Jim, and Marg. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, his loving children, Daniel and Julie (Vito), and his grandchildren, Alisa (Andy), Teresa, Matthew (Samantha), Maria (Evan), Rebeka (Dan), and Jacob. His great-grandchildren, Atley, Mackenzie, Bodhi, Leo, Gianna, and Luca, who kept him young. In addition to his immediate family, John is mourned by his sister, Marie.
Known for his quiet and self-contained demeanor, John was an extraordinarily generous and humble soul. He was always willing to lend a hand to those in need, leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His dry sense of humor shone through in his later years, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
May John rest in eternal peace, and may the memories of his love, kindness, generosity, and humor continue to bring comfort to those who mourn his passing.
