Joe is preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Diane Rosenberg. He is survived by his children, son Joe Jr. (Robin), son Bradley (Melanie) and daughter April (Keith). Joe is also survived by his siblings, Margie Flora, Gary Rosenberg, Illene Neff, Donna Donati and I.V. Rosenberg. Joe was blessed in his life with 6 Grandchildren and 14 Great-grandchildren. Joe also held dear to his heart, Erin (Wes) and Glenn (Tammy), who were like children to him as well as many other people that were very special to him in his life.
Joe was born and raised in Southwest Denver along with his 5 siblings. As a young child Joe would help to sell the race programs that were printed by his father’s printing business, Barnum Printing and Publishing at Englewood Speedway and Lakeside Speedway. So, it was no surprise that Joe would grow up with a love and appreciation for all things fast! Whether it be motorcycles or race cars. Joe also grew up working for the family printing business, Barnum Printing and Publishing and later working for other printers in the Denver area. Joe was a 4th generation printer from his family.
In 1962, Joe married his sweetheart Diane. The two would go onto have sons Joey, Bradley and then daughter April. In 1977, they started their own bindery business, Western Trade Bindery. A business that they would own for close to 30 years. After retiring from his own business, Joe then went to work for his brother Gary in the sales department at Publication Printers Corp. Their family would also grow over the years with the addition of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Spending time with all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren was something that Joe always cherished.
During his young life Joe always enjoyed being a fan of auto racing. As he got older, he then decided to become a race car driver himself. For many years he raced his #57 on the dirt track at Colorado National Speedway. Once the track was paved Joe decided to hang up his helmet and become a team owner. Joe enjoyed traveling with the race team and the continued excitement of the sport. After fully retiring from racing, Joe then focused his attention to the rebuilding of his vintage race car, #99 Codner Special. Joe enjoyed showing #99 at local race tracks and car shows over the years. A highlight for Joe was being to share in the enjoyment of #99 with his father Ivan Rosenberg, who was one of the original pit crew members back at Englewood Speedway in the 1940’s and 1950’s.
Joe enjoyed connecting with people in life and getting to know their life’s story. He will be remembered as someone that would do all that he could to help someone when they were in need. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He will be remembered by many for his big smile, infectious grin and the twinkle in his bright blue eyes!
