Jeanette Sue Barr of Westminster, Colorado passed away suddenly on January 4th, 2024 of natural causes. She was born Jeanette Sue Looney on January 29th, 1960 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Joseph W. Looney and Mary Patricia (Patsy) Looney, née Aragon. Jeanette was 63 years old at her passing.
She married the love of her life, Nick Barr, in June of 1977, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Immediately following their nuptials, the newlyweds embarked upon an epic, four-week grand tour honeymoon of the western United States. The young couple fell in love with Colorado where they settled and raised their family.
Although Jeanette moved from New Mexico as a teenager, she kept very close personal ties with her friends and family in Albuquerque, even as some moved away themselves. She traveled from the Denver area to Albuquerque at every opportunity, and in recent years was able to visit her mother there four times a year or more with her husband. Apart from her love of family, Jeanette was also an animal lover, especially of dogs, of whom she had eight of as pets throughout her life. Jeanette and Nick loved to travel, and following Nick’s retirement, purchased an RV in which they planned to visit every state, much as they did on their honeymoon, before COVID-19 caused those ambitions to be delayed. Even more than travel, Jeanette loved home and took pride in her house, a beautiful, tasteful, and inviting residence where she passed the remainder of her days.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Joseph W. Looney, her brother, Joseph P. Looney, and her sister, Mary L. Wilson. Jeanette is survived by her mother Patsy, her sister, Alma L. Dowless, her husband Nick, her daughter Tammy and her husband Greg, her son Chris and his wife Hillary, her grandchildren Grayson, Mason, and Emilie, as well as her dog, Jeanny.
She will be laid to rest on January 12th at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, CO. Condolences may be offered at OlingerCrownHillMortuary.com.
