Georgia Lee Dowd, 81, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022 at her residence in Greeley,Colorado. She was born April 15, 1941 in Denver, Colorado to George W. Hughes and Evelyn L.(Barrymore) Hughes.
She married Alfred L. Dowd on June 23,1960 in Denver, Colorado. The couple had three sons; Robert Wayne Dowd, Alan Joseph Dowd, and Daryl Carl Dowd. In addition to raising her family, Georgia worked for thirteen years at Hendrie and Bolthoff as a purchasing agent/inside sales agent and inventory control specialist. She then spent the next thirty years of her life working at Phil Long Ford in Denver, where she oversaw the used car inventory for the dealership. Georgia loved her work at Phil Long Ford, and often shared fond memories of her coworkers after she retired at the age of 75. After her retirement,Georgia moved to Greeley to be near her family.
She resided at Greeley Place, where she lived a comfortable life surrounded by new friends with whom she shared new life experiences.
During her lifetime, Georgia enjoyed spending time with her family, playing card games, and frequenting the casinos at Blackhawk. There, she honed her skills on games of chance, and especially enjoyed the friends in Greeley. Georgia was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Alan (Teresa) Dowd; Daughters-in-law, Julie Dowd and Cheryl Dowd; Nieces,Denise Bull and Kathleen Ash; Grandsons, Terrance Dowd, Christopher Dowd, Micah Dowd, Travis Hergenreder, and Ryan (Jordan) Hergenreder; Granddaughters, Kaija Dowd and Heather Dowd; and Great-grandchildren, Tatum Palmer, Cayden Hinkel, Maverick Peterson, Adelaide Beadle, and Anderson Hergenreder.
Georgia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred, her parents, and her sons, Robert and Daryl.
A small ceremony at the Pavillion, a gravesite internment, and a small reception will be a part of the event. Please dress casually and comfortably.
