Ernest was born on Nov. 26, 1949, in Fort Collins, CO, to Kenneth Dale and Carla Barrett. He married Sharon Kay Nickels on Oct. 6, 1973, in Canon City, CO. After 10 years of service in the Air Force, Ernest continued his employment with the government as a Bank Examiner for the FDIC.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Sharon; Two daughters: Jennifer Anderson, her husband, Scott, and their daughters, Kivryn and Caylee; and Rachel Dudak, her husband, Brian, and their children, Jansen and Parker.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bear Valley Bible Institute or to National Jewish Health.
A funeral service for Ernest will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Bear Valley Church of Christ, 2707 S. Lamar St., Denver, CO 80227. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
