Elvera Kastning Jones, 97, of Wheat Ridge died peacefully April 5, 2019. She had been a resident of the Colorado Lutheran Home (Arbor View) for eight years. Vera was born in 1922 and spent her early years on a farm outside of Chicago. The family moved to Arlington Heights, IL, much to Vera’s delight as she got her first paying job, working at the A&P. After High School and Secretarial School, Vera worked in Chicago at various organizations. She married her first husband, Herbert Heinemann, a WWII veteran, in 1957. He died in 1958. She married Allen H. Jones, also a WWII veteran, in 1968. They lived in Glendale and Fortuna California before moving to Wheat Ridge. Allen preceded her in death in 1999.
Vera was a champion bowler, avid bridge player and a devout Lutheran. She is survived by two step-children and four nieces. A Memorial Service will be held at Olinger Crown Hill Chapel, 7777 West 29th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 10 a.m.
