Edith Stokes, 88, of Denver, passed away November 6, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.
Edith was born May 19, 1923, in Denver, CO to the late Jim and Florence Melbourne. She graduated from Denver's North High School, then attended college in Denver and in Liberty, Missouri, earning a teaching degree. In her home state of Colorado, Edith acquired a teaching position at a local Junior High in LaSalle.
In 1945, she married Bernie Louis Stokes after his service during WWII and Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Army. Bernie preceded Edith in death in 2001. Edith was a homemaker and a loving mother and is survived by her four children with two of their spouses; her five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Edith's family was very important to her. She followed individual activities and interests, from children to great grandchildren, with support and understanding.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, November 11, 2011 at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery located in Wheat Ridge, CO.
