Edith was born August 5, 1918 in Genoa, Colorado, daughter of Earl T. and Sadie D. Clinkinbeard. She was a graduate of Genoa High School.
She attended Barnes school of business in Denver and worked for Berger Brothers prior to her marriage to Roy W Bailey, April 3, 1938. She and Roy raised three daughters in Denver, Colorado.
When her girls were nearing the age to attend college, she went to work for Gates Rubber Company and was in charge of the fleet of leased cars for Gates' national salesmen. She retired after 25 years with Gates Rubber Company.
Edith joined Berkeley Baptist Church in 1940 with her husband, and was a faithful member and leader throughout her life. She served in leadership with American Baptist Women, as financial secretary for the church, and was involved in the church's distribution of food and clothing for the needy.
One of her favorite pastimes was watching every Broncos game; she was an avid fan. She also was an accomplished seamstress and successful home gardener. Many cats and kittens found a home and love with her.
Edith served as an election judge in Denver for a number of years.
She is survived by daughters Elaine Johnston, Evelyn (Larry) Blazer, and Linda (Paul) Hendricks and seven grandchildren: Roy (Suzanne) Johnston, Christine Johnston, Duane (Connie) Johnston, Catherine Sullivan, Rebecca Blazer, David (Ashley) Blazer and Joanna Hendricks.
She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren: Karen Johnston; Lauren Johnston; Michael Ashworth; Amy, Jimmy and Samantha Brewer; Mae, Owen and Ethan Blazer; Elizabeth Ferguson, Victoria Baldwin and Brenden Sullivan; and two great-great-grandchildren: Laura Johnston and Bridgette Brewer.
Edith's surviving nieces and nephews include Norma Clinkinbeard; Celia Jean and Doris Raye Clinkinbeard; Wayne Clinkinbeard and great-nephew David Clinkinbeard.
Visitation is 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 12, 2014 at Olingers Chapel, Crown Hill, Denver, CO.
Visitation also Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 12:00 to 1:00 PM followed by funeral service at 1:00 PM, Berkeley Baptist Church, 4050 W. 44th Ave., Denver, CO.
