It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father, Eddie L. McQueen on March 23, 2023, at the age of 81, surrounded by his loved ones following a two-year struggle with cancer.
Eddie was born in 1941 at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Denver, Colorado to Eddie M. McQueen and Ruth I. Paulsen, and married the love of his life, Edith B. McQueen, in Frankfurt, Germany on October 9, 1962.
Eddie graduated from Loomis High School in Nebraska in 1959. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army and was stationed at Drake Kaserne in Frankfurt, Germany, 3rd Armored Division; the same army base as Elvis Presley. Eddie was the first soldier, at that time, to receive an oversees discharge.
His daughters, Barbara and Andrea, whom he loved dearly, were born in Frankfurt, Germany. The family lived in Dreieichenhain, and Eddie worked for Honeywell as a machinist. He also worked part-time at New England Nuclear Corporation as a typist. Eddie loved Germany and learned how to speak fluent German. During that time, Eddie and Edith visited many castles, cities, and countries.
In 1968, Eddie moved his family to Westminster, Colorado, and worked at Sundstrand Aviation for 20 years. He started work as a machinist and later was promoted to Quality Control Inspector. Eddie had a love and passion for fixing guns which started at an early age. He enrolled at Colorado School of Trades to learn gunsmithing and graduated as Master Gunsmith. After graduation, he became a teacher at Colorado School of Trades and later was promoted to Gun Room Manager. After retirement, he spent lots of quality time at his cabin and ranch in Como, CO, which he loved dearly.
Eddie was extremely talented and had many artistic abilities. He had a passion for designing, decorating, and creating artwork, most of which involved Cowboys and Indians. He spent hours designing and decorating Edith’s office building which is a tribute to his love for her.
