Douglas Andrew Miller Sr., 82, of Louisville Kentucky, passed March 24, 2021. Douglas was born in April of ‘38 in Louisville Kentucky. He graduated from Flaget High School and received an academic scholarship to Bellarmine College. He became engaged to the love of his life, Teresa Hiemer, at the age of 19, and they married the following year in 1958, to enjoy 62 wonderful years of Marriage. He was a doting father of four beautiful and loving daughters: Marcia, Jeanine, Kimberly, and Angela; and one very handsome and strong son, Doug Jr. He was remarkably successful in both his personal and professional lives. He started as a bag boy at the age of 12, delivering groceries to assist with income for his family. He then owned multiple businesses during his 20’s, and later became a legendary icon in the cemetery business. He was a Mason and Shriner, and sang in the church choir, both as an adolescent and as an adult, with his wife, Teresa. Doug and Teresa greatly enjoyed loading up the car with the kids and traveling around the country; then in later years, traveling abroad. He had a wonderful gift of gab, acute intellect, unparalleled wisdom, and best of all, he never met a stranger. So very generous and compassionate, he spared little expense, time, and energy to turn around the lives of many beaten men. He put all his five children through college and provided many beautiful homes for his family over the years. The final home in Golden, for the last 30 years, on Lookout Mountain. His legacy lives on through his six amazing grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two grandchildren are currently serving our country, in the Air Force and Navy.
Douglas is survived by his faithful, loving, and caring wife, Teresa Miller, his children: Marcia Ford, Jeanine Losher, (Steven); Kimberly Maldonado, (Peter); Angela Pierce, (Mike); and Douglas Miller Jr., (Stefanie). Sisters: Phyllis (Bonsey) Stovall; Patricia (Pat) McShea, (George); & Katherine (Scooby) Vegh, (Frank). Six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Mass of Celebration will be at 8:30am Monday the 5th of April, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 969 Ulysses St., Golden, CO 280401 with burial at Olinger Mt. Lindo Cemetery. Visitation will be Good Friday, the 2nd of April in the Chapel of Peace at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, 7777 W 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
