Dorothy Belle Posson (maiden name Dorothy Belle Dunavan nickname/clown name Dot) was born on a farm in Washington County Kansas on July 8, 1925 the daughter of Floyd Dunavan and Dolly Mae Dunavan (Roe).
Dorothy/Dot and her husband Robert Gilbert Posson (nickname and clown name Poss) lived at 1782 South Alcott Street in Denver Colorado since the 1950s when the house was built.
She is proceeded in death by her husband Robert Gilbert Posson ( nickname/clown name Poss) , a sister, Mildred Dunavan, brothers, Wilbur Dunavan, and Glenn R Dunavan
Dot said she doesn’t sign documents using her middle name because the kids teased her by calling her Dorothy belly. She didn’t realize that Belle was French for pretty. On the farm boys got bicycles and girls rode horses.
Once she was helping her mother pluck goose down to use for making pillows and was bitten on her rear end by another goose.
She graduated from High School and then earned a certificate to teach school.
She also got a job at a diner in Norton, Kansas where she worked and had a room upstairs.
When Dorothy saw Robert Posson in his Army uniform on his return from World War 2 she decided that she was going to Mary him. They got married on December 19, 1945. Since then they have been together for ever. They both were members of the Boy Scouts as adult scouters. Dorothy was involved in Boy Scouting for more than 30 years and also Girl Scouting and Robert was in Scouting for over 70 years.
After they moved from Norton Kansas Dorothy got a job at Montgomery Wards Business Office where she worked until Montgomery Wards closed down both became clowns and would go to Children’s Hospital and entertain the children who were in the hospital. They later became the head of Colorado Clowns organization and would entertain children at the Special Olympic events.
Dorothy made beautiful quilts. She also did ceramics.
Dorothy as well as Robert were active in the church which was less than a block from there house.
Dorothy Has many lifelong friends in her neighborhood.
Dorothy loved roses and had many in her yard some were planted around the old wagon wheel from her fathers farm which they brought from Kansas to their house.
Dorothy and Robert had a dog named Mitzi until Mitzi passed away.
Dorothy and Robert both earned the Silver Beaver award in Scouting which is the highest award in Denver Scouting.
