Your a good man, and you served the citizens of Denver with  exceptionally duty and honor. Thank you for your  service to your country in a difficult time for members the armed forces.  You cast a mighty shadow on the correct way that police work should be done. You will be missed dear friend, and I hope to see you in our next life. Please watch after those of us  who remain here on earth.

Dave was an exceptional bomb technician and mentor. He was always eager to share his wealth of knowledge with those around him.  He also had a phenomenal memory and would provide intricate details for old cases for the new guys in the unit. Dave was willing to help anyone in need. 
Dave will be missed.

David Haley is one of the finest people I've ever known, he simply was a great guy and even more generous person. Getting to know David over the years, and especially these 6-8 months before his passing, I learned a lot about his job (s) within the Denver Police Department, from rookie officer to one of the leading bomb squad technicians in the country. He shared many stories about his life and career, and being a police officer, he saw more than a few amusing things in his job along the way. If anyone "walked the walk," David Haley certainly did that, he was a family man, police officer, and friend, someone who would help you if you needed it, or pick you up and get you on the right track again. I will never forget you David, thank you for all the things you did, your generosity and kindness will always be remembered.

As your first born nephew I will always remember the family fishing, the sport clays, your car, The Scotchman. But most of all will always remember as an 8 or 9 year old Little Leaguer the trip we made to a local sporting goods store on 44th Avenue, some 50 plus years ago were you purchased and helped me select my first bat. The encouragement it gave.
Thankyou for being a role model an  mentor in life. Even through adulthood you were always there. Every kid should be as lucky an proud as I've been of you. Thankyou! Uncle not only for your service but for being you. 

To David's family my deepest sympathy and prayers to you and yours. I had the pleasure of working many cases with David over the years. I was one of the first IABTI member from the Denver Police Department as an Investigator, I had no Military experience to be considered for Bomb Technician nor the desire to be one. On the other hand Dave was very well qualified and had the drive to be one of the best in the Nation. Over the years David saved many life's along the front range and working with  teams gathered a lot of intelligence, making numerous cases for prosecution. David took great pride in the Denver Bomb Squad and trained some of the best technician's in the nation. 
David is a credit to Law Enforcement and the Denver Police Department, although he will be missed he will never be forgotten.

My family knew Dave for many years while he patrolled District I and kept our area and home safe. He was a good officer, a good man, who became a good friend. We are so sorry to hear  of his passing and so very sorry for your loss. We will cherish the memories we have of him and the time we shared with him. Please know that you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dave Haley was the most knowledgeable and humble bomb technician I have ever known. As I was beginning my trek as a fledgling bomb technician Dave chose to take me under his wing and teach me all he could. He was a fantastic mentor but even a better person.  Rest in peace my Brother, you have earned a lifetime of respect from many.

My wife and I have known Dave a long time.  Of course we met him on the job.  He was a terrific bomb technician for several years before retirement.  After we were all retired, we used to see him at a restaurant (Perkins) fairly often near Wadsworth and Hampden.  Many times, we would all eat together and kick around stories about the DPD and some of our experiences.  He was a fairly quiet man until you got to know him, then just one of the guys.  Dave's bomb technician experiences frequently were discussed.  He had a great ability to tell a story or relate an experience,  and was also highly decorated on the police department for acts of bravery.  I was privileged to see him in work on some of these occasions, and his actions were extremely professional.  We were very sorry to hear of his passing and will miss him dearly.  He was a terrific guy.  His  passing is a major loss to our police community, especially those who knew him.   While we will keep Dave in our daily prayers, our sincere sympathies go out to all his friends and family.

I would like to offer my condolences to the family of Dave. I had the pleasure of working with Dave one time on a sting operation and he did his job very well.  Dave was a cops cop and very well liked on the department. The last time I saw Dave was at a King Soopers in Littleton.  I hadn't seen him in a while and it sure was nice to be able to talk to him that one last time. He will be truly missed.

My condolences to Dave's family.  I worked with Dave and he was always a genuine, and kind man.  Soft spoken yet everyone knew they could count on him to take care of business.  Dave took such pride in his knowledge in the arena of explosives and was a hell of a cop in the Bomb Unit.  R.I.P my friend.

David was a great friend and was the best man in our wedding way back when. A friendship of over 50 years and a working relationship that was always a bright spot in my life. 
I was part of his celebration of life for Shannon and he couldn't ever say too much about his true love, his daughter. I am so sorry for you loss and wish all the very best.

Dave was the consumate gentleman and without question a Cops Cop, truly an inspiration for all cops. 
From his 'blue' book in the early 70's, to those two defining days in his career, the fateful day in December of 1975 and April of 1999, he never shied away as a leader by example and he walked the walk!
He always had that 'let's see if we can't make this...' for the new breed and I don't now of a finer man! Already sorely missed. 


Dave was my friend, mentor and colleague.  We worked cases together and I could always depend on his being there when I needed him.

I've know Dave since High School.  I talked him into coming on the job (DPD) and we've remained friends throughout the years.  I have so many great memories of Dave, it's hard to pick one to share.  However, I would share that he was such a gentleman, willing to help anyone with any project and he treated people with great respect.  Dave had a serious side about him and it always became a challenge to get him to laugh at something he didn't think was funny at the time.  We worked together in the bomb squad and Dave was a natural leader.  He was known as the "fixer" and if anyone had something to fix, Dave would be able to do it or come up with an idea of how to create and make the "tool" we made need or use in the bomb squad.   
Of all the things Dave was involved with and made a success of he didn't brag about it.  But, one of his greatest things that he enjoyed talking about was his daughter, Shannon.  He was so proud of the little girl, that became an adult and made a great career in her job with the "feds".  
Dave will be missed.
