Darrell is survived by his wife Shelley (nee Gordon) Iler; four children: Jon, Darian, Dallin, & Mikayla Iler; parents Denis & Joan Iler; brothers Denis and Daniel Iler; sister Julia Huitt; and his nieces and nephews.
Darrell was the brightest smile and spirit in any room. He was a doting husband, an incredibly loving and diligent father, a respectful son, a gracious friend, and a steadfast, radiant pillar of faith. He would be the first to drop everything to help others in need, even if it meant pulling off the highway with four fighting children in a blizzard to change a stranger’s tire.
Darrell was a brilliant and hard-working engineer and problem solver. He received an engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines. He then achieved multiple presidential awards at CN Railroad and patented several devices for the intricate systems he worked on, all while claiming no credit and insisting it was all inspired by our Father in Heaven.
He was a lover of anything mechanical, DIY projects, hornets’ nest being destroyed with drones, scripture, movies nights, goofy humor, long walks on the beach, car crash videos, memorable experiences, gas station hotdogs, hooptie rescue missions, his family, and most importantly, God. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hebron Ward.
