

Cedric Mathias was born in Stafford, KS on Oct. 8, 1935, he was the youngest of 8 children. He and his older brother Clyde did everything together. He went to Alameda High school, played sports including Football, Basketball, Baseball, Wrestling, and Track. He was a pitcher and a catcher for the Alameda Pirates baseball team. He made a few friends, but Gene Clark was his best friend; he stayed in touch with Gene and his wife Sharon through the years. His other good friend was John Coffay and his wife Marcie.
He graduated in 1954, and started his career at Russell Stovers. He worked in the factory and the warehouse, he truly did it all whether it be making candy, shipping candy and deliveries. He worked 46 years at Russell Stovers and retired at age 64.
In addition to starting his life long career, he married his high school sweetheart and elven months later become a father. He had five children, Deborah, Michael, Stephen, Terry and Cathy. He liked to fish and hunt with his friend John, his two brother in laws- Ronn and Harry, his sons, son in law and his grandsons. The family wen on vacation trips every summer- camping, fishing and sightseeing in different stats, creeks and lakes.
In 1977 he became a grandpa and has a total of nine grandchildren. He has 16 great grandkids and one great great grandchild. His siblings made him an uncle to 14 nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his Siblings, Father (1968), Son- Terry (1969), Mother (1974) and Wife (2004).
A Visitation for Cedric will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The Funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a Graveside service at 3:00 PM.
