She attended country school in Rural Distract 3, Filmore County in a one room school house that was on her dad’s farm land. The original owner of the farm was paid one dollar for the school building. When the school house was closed in later years, her dad paid the district one dollar to let the school remain on his land. Carrol spent eight years at country school then attended high school in Exeter, Nebraska where she graduated in 1951. She got her teaching degree from Nebraska Wesleyan, and taught elementary school in Beatrice and Lincoln, Nebraska and Jefferson County, Colorado.
Growing up, Carrol was active in 4-H with various projects, giving demonstrations at the state and county fairs.
On October 21, 1962 she married Cleo L. Knox, of Hoxie, Kansas. The couple resided in Arvada, Colorado. In July of 1969 they adopted their daughter Beth Ann Knox Thomas. Carrol maintained a very close relationship with her daughter and her two grandchildren, Eli and Lainie.
Carrol is survived by her daughter Beth Ann Knox Thomas, and grandchildren, Eli Baker Thomas, and Lainie Elizabeth Thomas. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Betty (Betka) Biba, husband Cleo and several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 5-7:00 pm at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary. Graveside service will be Friday, July 15, 2016 at 10:30 am at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery.
Memorial service will be Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 5:00pm at First United Church of Arvada.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Denver Hospice, or the First United Church of Arvada.
